When an inner situation is not made conscious, it appears outside as fate. - Carl Jung

Its too easy to sit idle while life directs you where to go. Some call it fate, when really your subconscious fears are steering every decision or indecision. I could sit here and continue to live the life my parents view as ideal, or I could go out and live the life that I deem ideal. Only-child syndrome makes me feel like living the life they dreamed of is the right thing to do. But that is only my fear and subconscious steering my life. To manifest my own true will is to seek growth and experience, which are natural human needs. I have to accept my fears, not reject them, in order to conquer them. I accept that I am a people pleaser, and in accepting I am giving it up to please myself.

Every war when it comes, or before it comes, is represented not as a war but as an act of self-defence against a homicidal maniac. In our time political speech and writing are largely the defence of the indefensible. But if thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought. All the war-propaganda, all the screaming and lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind. War against a foreign country only happens when the moneyed classes think they are going to profit from it. Nationalism is power hunger tempered by self-deception. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength. (On the manipulation of language for political ends.) We have sunk to a depth at which restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men. If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear. In times of universal deceit, telling the truth will be a revolutionary act.

That we find a crystal or a poppy beautiful means that we are less alone, that we are more deeply inserted into existence than the course of a single life would lead us to believe.

What I must do is all that concerns me, not what the people think. This rule, equally arduous in actual and intellectual life, may serve for the whole distinction between greatness and meanness. It is the harder, because you will always find those who think they know what is your duty better than you know it. It is easy in the world to live after the world’s opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after our own; but the great person is one who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude.

Massive Black Holes Common in Early Universe

shamanfox:

The Universe “conspires” because you design it. It works at this very moment, all around… you are speaking to yourself to whatever you will…”listen”.
